Publisher: RMIT University 2007, ISSN: 18387314-121, Editors: AnnMarie Brennan, Harriet Edquist, Hannah Lewi, Laurene Vaughan, Format: Softcover, 210 x 300 mm, 60pp

RMIT Design Archives Journal, Vol. 12, No. 1, 2022: Women, Writing, Design celebrates the contribution of Professor Emerita Harriet Edquist, RMIT University, to architectural and design history, archives, criticism, and exhibitions.

The theme for this issue sprang from a workshop 'Looking inside Design' at The University of Melbourne in 2021. The aim of the workshop was to prepare for a special issue of Fabrications 32:1, edited by Professor Philip Goad and Catherine Townsend. This issue of Fabrications will be a Festschrift for Harriet Edquist and will explore the nexus between architecture, design, exhibitions and curating.

We thank the contributing authors:

  • AnnMarie Brennan who investigates Anna Castelli Ferrieri and the Tectonics of Plastic in Industrial Design.
  • Harriet Edquist who uncovers the story of Ellen Nora Payne, women art woodcarvers and the early Arts and Crafts movement in Melbourne.
  • Hannah Lewi who explores the ways archives can fuel the imagination, and be a site for experimentation and speculative thinking.
  • Laurene Vaughan who reflects on her collaborative work with Edquist between 2007 and 2011, and the crafting of place and the making of landscapes of home.
