In the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, 'Time to Play' explores how play shapes our cities and societies. This collection includes texts on topics like grieving in video games, play therapy in psychiatric asylums, excessive sport (bigorexia), the unbalanced rules of international trade, the overlap between sports and sacred rites, the symbolism of colour in sports, casino architecture and addiction, the dangers of online betting, gender equality in French sports, and urban sports like parkour and skateboarding. Born from the desire to discuss play through play, 'Time to Play' employs a freeform approach inspired by the exquisite corpse game. Each author contributes independently, creating a polyphonic ensemble of interviews, photo reports, illustrations, analyses, essays, articles, and excerpts. This format allows readers the freedom to navigate the content as they see fit.
